English editing of translated texts
(Source languages: German, Persian, Spanish and others)
I have a falcon’s eye for typing errors and a fine sense of English style and grammar. Since I have studied many different languages, I know my way around “false friends” (faux-amis) and can bring existing English texts to mother-tongue level.
Writing English Copy
Because I was born and reared in the United States and still regularly spend time with my family and friends there, my relationship with the English language and American culture continues. I came to Germany for the first time at age 14 to attend a youth summer camp, and have been here on and off for longer and shorter periods since then—for study, work and visiting my host family—and thus have professionalized and refined my spoken and written German.
Adaptation and Translation
I offer adaptations and translations of German texts into English. This includes both business and technical as well as literary and philosophical texts. But I also bring advertising material of any kind into meaningful and linguistically effective English—be it in American, British or International English.
I am flexible, easy to work with, and accept last-minute jobs.
My translation fees are based on the text-volume of the German original, its level of complexity, and our deadline. I compute translations per line (55 characters including spaces), and assess editing and original copywriting per hour.
